Caring for Children
In 1997, with the help of Lacombe & District Family and Community Support Services and a group of volunteers, a fund was established to help with medical, dental and educational support for children that might go without if assistance were not available.
Funds are raised from churches, service organizations and individuals in the community and administered by FCSS. The fund can provide up to 75% of the cost of eye glasses, dental or pharmacy needs. It can be used for other emerging and educational needs with the exception of sports and recreation-related costs. The fund is meant to be adaptable to meet the needs of the children in the community.
Teachers, School Counselors, Principals, Pharmacists, Doctors, Dentists, Police or Ministers can refer children or families to FCSS for support. The amount of funding approved is at the discretion of FCSS. All payments are made directly to the service provider by FCSS.
All families seeking and receiving funds will be kept strictly confidential.
